U.S.: No smoking in apartments
No smoking, no pets - who wants to live here?
As the eZine Telepolis reported that the City Council of Belmont (California, USA) has decided to ban smoking in all buildings with several apartments. In a funded by the chemical and pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, which sells products including smoking cessation study found that Non smoking, smoking their neighbors in the apartment, could be harmed.
Now, 77 percent of the owners of 118 condominiums in La Rive Condominiums, a building in Minneapolis, decided that the entire building from 1 May 2008, smoking will be banned. The only exceptions are people who have moved before this decision is in the house. Any new owner or tenant must agree to comply with the smoking ban.
According to a report of the "Star Tribune" to this trend, the smoking ban in homes throughout the country continue to increase.
Discussed was whether the prohibition of smoking detracts from the value of the homes or raise. Proponents of the smoking ban were of the opinion that the flats would be increased if who will not smoke, opponents argued, because the circle of interested parties was much smaller, would decrease the value. It would also be heavily engaged in the private sphere, where one should have had already decided that one should keep in this building no pets.
